CUTTLEFISH – GENERAL INFORMATION

Latin name: Sepia spp (big size) and Sepiella spp (small size).

** Cuttlefish are marine animals of the order Sepiida belonging to the Cephalopoda class.

** In Vietnam’s territorial water there are around 25 species of cuttlefish found, which mostly live in the depth of 50-200m water. Cuttlefish are distributed from the north to the south of Vietnam.

** Season: cuttlefish could be caught whole year round, however there are peak months as belows:
– Northern season in January, February, March and April
– Southern season from June to September

** Catching method: Hook and line, luring lift net, trawl, lift net, trap – local name.
